Why Am I Seeing Sea Turtle Sculptures in Naples Florida?
As you drive around Naples Florida this season you may be wondering why you have been seeing sea turtle sculptures in a number of places throughout town. The art community has come together to put their mark on 50 of these bronze sculptures, that were created by the late Naples artist Kathy Spalding. The project’s official name is “Turtles on the Town”. Local artists have made each sculpture unique and placed them around town for a public art exhibition for residents and visitors to admire.
On March 9th, 2016 you will be able to buy one! They will be auctioned off to raise money for three organizations – Community Foundation of Collier County, Conservancy of Southwest Florida and the United Arts Council of Collier County. The Turtles will be sold, many through an exciting live auction event, to support the arts, the environment and charitable efforts in our community.
